SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Firstmark Credit Union is proud to announce Robin Tooms has been named its new chief marketing officer (CMO). This addition now expands the credit union’s executive team, building off its strong success over the last few years, and she is the first CMO to take the helm at the credit union in close to a decade.
Tooms brings over 20 years of leadership experience to Firstmark, most recently with Members Choice Credit Union ($767M, Houston, TX), where she served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer since March 2019. Providing in-depth brand insight through initiatives that present new, sustainable revenue streams, measurable results, and a strong relationship with communities the credit union champions, her expertise and commitment to people helping people fits seamlessly with Firstmark.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to join Firstmark Credit Union and help build on its remarkable legacy of impact in the communities we serve,” said Tooms. “Firstmark’s deep roots in the education community and its dedication to uplifting members is nothing short of inspiring. Together with the Board and our passionate team, we have an incredible opportunity to spark meaningful connections, bring fresh ideas to life, and empower every member to thrive in the communities we proudly serve.”
Over the course of her career, Tooms has held a variety of marketing positions, showcasing innovative blueprints, a deep understanding of business-to-business plans, and implementing ever-evolving digital campaigns. Prior to her last role, she served as principal and senior leader for an advertising agency, Savage Brands, overseeing brand and marketing strategies for Fortune 500 and mid-sized organizations. Outside of work, Tooms serves as a National Board Chair for the American Marketing Association, and she also gives her time to volunteer at local nonprofits.
“We couldn’t be happier to add Robin to our leadership team,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Wendy Cleveland. “She has a proven track record of ensuring a robust bond between the credit union and membership, which has been the foundation for Firstmark since established, and her dedication in giving back to the community aligns perfectly with our organization’s values. We are fortunate to welcome her aboard and look forward to the positive impact she will make.”
Firstmark looks forward to Tooms’ official start date, which is set for September 2.

ABOUT Firstmark Credit Union
Firstmark Credit Union has a proud legacy deeply rooted in education. Founded by ten teachers in 1932 to serve their peers in the school districts, San Antonio Teachers Credit Union (SATCU), the first state-chartered credit union in San Antonio, operated from its original location at what we know today as Fox Tech High School. SATCU closed its first year with 40 members, $475 in assets, and $300 in loans divided between three borrowers. Today, Firstmark has grown their original $475 investment to over 92,000 members and over $1 billion in assets. As a financial cooperative owned by its members, Firstmark continues to chart a course that celebrates its roots in education, gives back to the communities it serves, and provides financial solutions to help meet the evolving needs of its members. Firstmark has been recognized by the San Antonio Business Journal as a Best Places to Work for the last five years, an achievement made possible by purpose-driven employees who serve one another and the members.
