Marisa Pérez-Díaz,
Executive Director, Firstmark Credit Union/Firstmark Foundation

Marisa Pérez-Díaz serves as the Executive Director of the Firstmark Foundation, bringing to the role a decade of experience in the K-12 and higher education system, as a former school district administrator, university co-instructor, and education policymaker. Her comprehension of, and appreciation for, the education ecosystem, creates the pathway toward strategic and impactful cross-sectional partnerships with our education community. The Firstmark Foundation aims to lead the charge in serving as THE institution created by educators for educators. Marisa is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is the proud wife of a school district trustee and mother of three.

Diane Bacon,
Education & Brand Specialist, Firstmark Credit Union/Firstmark Foundation

As a 15-year employee of Firstmark Credit Union, Diane Bacon has been dedicated to serving our members as a Financial Center Manager at 7 Firstmark financial centers, including our latest, Legacy Financial Center. Diane spent over 10 years as a school and community volunteer, as well as PTA President on 2 different NEISD campuses and one Calallen ISD campus. Her combined knowledge and experiences with the education community have led her to transition to the Education and Brand team, supporting the Firstmark Foundation. Diane holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a Marketing major from Georgia State University, and has previously served as a Vice President and Branch Manager at Bank of America and First Gibraltar Savings.

Nathanael Tawarsokono,
Firstmark Foundation Chair President/Chief Executive Officer, Firstmark Credit Union

Nathanael Tarwasokono is the president and chief executive officer CEO) of Firstmark Credit Union, a $1 billion organization in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to joining Firstmark in 2015, he was the president and CEO of Pima Federal Credit Union, a $460 million organization in Tucson, Arizona. Nathanael actively serves on boards for the San Antonio Children’s Hospital Foundation, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Texas Business Lending Group, Northside Education Foundation, Credit Union Coalition of Texas, UP Partnership (Treasurer), and Payment Systems for Credit Unions. Nathanael also serves on two committees for the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions: The Cybersecurity Committee and Share Insurance Fund Committee.

Michael Grundon,
Firstmark Foundation Chair-Elect Chief Financial Officer, Firstmark Credit Union

Mike Grundon is Firstmark Credit Union’s Chief Financial Officer. He joined Firstmark Credit Union in 2016 and as a member of the senior executive team, he oversees the credit union’s accounting, treasury, payment systems and loan resolution departments. With 30 years’ experience, of which 20 years have been spent in the credit union industry in California, Arizona, and Texas, Mike’s expertise in investment management, asset and liability management, and growth strategies is evident in the numerous industry organizations he is a member of. In addition to his professional role, Mike has volunteered time to the Children’s Hospital in San Diego, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and Junior Achievement.

Veronica Teran,
Firstmark Foundation Treasurer Vice President, Acct./Controller, Firstmark Credit Union

Veronica Teran is Firstmark Credit Union’s Vice President of Accounting/Controller. She is a licensed CPA and Chartered Global Management Accountant. Veronica is also a 2011 graduate of the Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) held at Texas Christian University. SCMS is a three-year program that provides intense, hands-on professional development with a primary main focus on credit union leadership skills, asset liability management, and strategic planning. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, Credit Union Employees Society, CU Network, and Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS). Veronica is passionate about volunteerism and giving back to the San Antonio community.

Gregg Thorne,
Firstmark Foundation Board Member Chief Alliance Officer, Firstmark Credit Union

Gregg Thorne serves as the Chief Alliance Officer for Firstmark Credit Union, leading the credit unions efforts to expand its’ presence and brand awareness in the greater San Antonio Metropolitan area through strategic alliances, real estate acquisition and physical and digital delivery channels. Gregg joined Firstmark in 2008 and served in several roles prior to his current role, including Chief Lending Officer and Chief Operations Officer. He has served on the Northeast Educational Foundation board since 2016.
