San Antonio-Based Credit Union Again Honored Local Educators for Thanksgiving

SAN ANTONIO – Educators have always been the backbone of our community, and to honor their hard work and inspiration, on November 5, 2022, Firstmark Credit Union partnered with Trusted Capital Group (TCG), Spurs Sports & Entertainment, the Lonnie Walker IV Foundation, and KLRN to give away holiday turkeys with all the trimmings to local educators. This special event was just one way the credit union showed its appreciation during Thanksgiving.

Throughout the annual event, local high school bands entertained the educators and their families as they streamed through the lines to pick up their turkeys. The main dish was provided by Firstmark, and the Lonnie Walker IV Foundation added all of the side dishes to make the free meals complete. In addition, the San Antonio Spurs contributed 700 pairs of free tickets for teachers to attend future NBA games.

“Firstmark appreciates the tireless work of teachers in our community,” said CEO and President Nathanael Tarwasokono. “They are a guiding force in our children’s lives, and we want to celebrate them during this season of thanksgiving.”

As a credit union founded by educators for educators in 1932, Firstmark has championed the education community. Each year, Firstmark sponsors back-to-school events, provides monetary donations to school district foundations, and distributes free academic planners to public and charter schools in and around San Antonio. Additionally, the credit union offers back-to-school loans, education grants, and student scholarships for high school graduating seniors.
