Black Friday, November 29, 2013
By this date, you should have received your Firstmark Debit Card in the mail.Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) will arrive in a separate mailing.

Saturday, November 30, 2013
Please plan appropriately for your holiday shopping and travel needs.Your Southside Debit Card will no longer work after 1:30 p.m. You may begin using your new Firstmark card after 1:30 p.m. Remember you will need to use your card and PIN for either an ATM or point-of-sale transaction before it can be used for a credit (signature) transaction or call (866) 985-2273 to activate your new card.

Sunday, December 1, 2013
Southside accounts will be converted to Firstmark accounts. For your convenience, the Member Contact Center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

You may begin using any of the 12 additional Firstmark locations.

Is my money safe?

Yes. Your funds continue to be federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government.

Why are we partnering?

The credit union world is becoming increasingly competitive and consolidated. This partnership is a proactive step for our credit unions to capitalize on our strengths and position the new organization for the future.

What does the partnership mean to my services?

Members will retain all of the high-quality services they are used to, plus extended branch locations, enhanced products, services and convenience, uninterrupted membership, and a credit union well positioned for the future.

Is the partnership final?

Following lengthy and careful fact-finding and negotiations, the partnership was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors from each institution. Credit Union regulatory bodies must now review and approve the proposal. Regulatory approval is expected in the fall of 2013.

Will there be layoffs?

Southside Credit Union staff will become part of the merged organization. You will continue to see the same friendly faces that you have grown accustomed to having served you, with the same personal touch.

Are you going to close my branch?

No. Your location at 3401 SW Military Dr. will stay open.

When will I be able to start using the other credit union’s branches?

The date for branch availability will be announced after the merger becomes effective in the fall of 2013.

Will there be changes to my account(s)?

Firstmark Credit Union members will not experience any changes to their accounts. Southside Credit Union members will be informed of any changes as the merger details are completed.

How will I be notified of changes to my account?

Members will continue to receive updates via mail, email, statements, websites, lobby brochures and social media. Please be sure to read all material sent to you from your credit union.

When will Southside Credit Union (Southside) merge with Firstmark Credit Union (Firstmark)?

The credit union officially merges on October 31, 2013.  Southside accounts will be converted to Firstmark accounts effective Sunday, December 1, 2013.

When can Southside Credit Union members begin to use Firstmark Credit Union branches and vice versa?

You can begin using any of the Firstmark branches starting on Monday, December 2, 2013.  You can check online at for branch locations and hours.

Will my account number change?

To increase security of your personal identification, all Southside members will receive a new six-digit member number. Look for this information in your mailbox during the week of November 25, 2013.

Can I continue to use the checks I have for Southside or will I be required to order new checks?

We will continue to accept Southside checks through June 30, 2014. After December 2, 2013, you may order Firstmark checks online at or by calling the Member Contact Center.

If I order new checks will I be charged?

There will not be any charge for your first initial box of Firstmark custom checks. You may order Firstmark checks online at or by calling the Member Contact Center.

What will be the new branch hours in the lobby and drive-thru?

The hours for the current Southside Branch will be:

9:00 am - 5:15 pm Mon-Fri
9:00 am - 2:00 pm Sat
8:00 am - 6:00 pm Mon-Fri
9:00 am - 2:00 pm Sat

If my account number changes am I responsible for notifying all the companies that electronically withdraw from my current account?

Firstmark will continue to honor and post all withdrawals and deposits sent via electronic ACH.  We will send a notification of change to the appropriate merchant/financial institution informing them of the change in routing number and account number.  We encourage you to make every attempt to notify any company that you have authorized to withdraw funds or make electronic deposits, advising them of the new account number change.

Will Firstmark continue to assist with the “Collection Note”?

Yes, Firstmark will continue to offer this service for all existing collection notes.

Do I have to order a new debit card?

You will receive a Firstmark Debit Card in the mail by Friday, November 29, 2013. For added security, your PIN (Personal Identification Number) will be sent in a separate mailing.

You may begin using your new Firstmark card after 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013. **Your Southside Debit Card will no longer work after 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013.  Please plan accordingly for your spending needs during this weekend.

If I want to make a large purchase using my debit card, how do I request an increase in my limit?

You can request an increase in the daily limit by calling the Member Contact Center at (210) 442-0100 or (800) 683-1211.

Which ATMs can I use that will not charge me a fee?

You will continue to have ATM access at your current free locations. In addition, you will have access to the nation’s largest ATM network, ALLPOINT with 250+ Free ATMs in the San Antonio area and more than 55,000 worldwide.

How do I register or set up access for Online Banking?

To set up Online Banking, please call the Member Contact Center at 210-366-2255 or long distance at (800) 683-1211.

Does Firstmark have an automated line to get my balance after hours if I don’t have a computer?

You can call SmartCall our 24 hour account information line at 210-366-2255 or long distance at (888) 683-1211.  Call the Member Contact Center to set up your access and PIN.

When will I receive my account statements and will I continue to receive separate statements?

You will receive one statement reflecting all share and loan transactions associated with that member number. Having a consolidated statement saves time and makes it easy for you to monitor your account activity.

Will any of my current rates change?

Rates on Savings, Checking, and Money Market Accounts will change to the current rates offered by Firstmark. Rates are available at, at any branch location, or by calling the Member Contact Center.

Should I expect any changes to my current Certificate of Deposits (CD’s)?

Terms on your Southside Share Certificates of Deposit (rate and maturity) will not change. Any accrued interest from November through December 2013 will be paid Tuesday, December 31, 2013; and, thereafter, on the last day of the month.

With Southside I was able to still make a deposit the following day to cover my NSF Check or NSF ACH by a cut off time.  Will Firstmark do the same?

Any deposits intended to cover an Insufficient Funds item from the prior day must be made prior to 11:00 a.m. at one of our branch locations.

Is my current Savings or Checking account changing?

Yes, all existing Southside products will convert to a Firstmark product on December 1, 2013.
