There are three (3) positions open for election on the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee, appointed by the Chairman of the Board, has nominated one member for each board position to be filled. There were no nominations received by petition. The terms for each position and the nominees are as follows:

Position 1 (term: 2024 – 2027) — Rodolfo “Rudy” Peña, Incumbent Director
Position 2 (term: 2024 – 2027) — Donald Pinson, Incumbent Director 
Position 3 (term: 2024 – 2027) — Kyle Friesenhahn, Incumbent Director 

The Nominating Committee has confirmed the above members as qualified to have their names placed in nomination, and the nominees have agreed to accept the office if elected. A brief statement of qualifications and the biographical data for each of the nominees is included with this notice.

2024 Board of Directors | Election Candidates 

Rodolfo “Rudy” Peña (Incumbent Director) 

A member of Firstmark Credit Union since 1972, Mr. Peña has served as director of the Board since 2002. Professionally, he served as Director of Secondary Human Resources for the Northside Independent School District until his retirement in 2012, where he was responsible for overseeing the staffing of school personnel for middle and high schools throughout the district. His professional association includes an active membership in the Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators. A native Texan, Mr. Peña earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas – Pan American and a master’s degree from Texas A&I University. Mr. Peña considers his service to the Firstmark Credit Union Board of Directors a meaningful opportunity to serve the community’s long-term financial wellbeing.

Donald Pinson (Incumbent Director) 

Prior to his retirement in 2004, Mr. Pinson spent the better part of four decades serving the San Antonio education community at both the San Antonio and Northside Independent School Districts as teacher, assistant principal, and vice principal, finally capping his career as principal of a large 5A high school. A graduate of local Jefferson High School, Mr. Pinson earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, and his Master of Business Administration and Mid-Management Certification from the University of Texas in San Antonio. During his career he was recognized as the Texas Assistant Principal of the Year in 1996 and Individual Volunteer of the Year (NISD) in 2009, and now continues an active involvement in the Texas Retired Teachers Association. His activities now revolve around his life-long passions of family, education, and golf. Mr. Pinson joined the Firstmark Credit Union Board of Directors as an advisory director in 2006 and was appointed a director of the Board in 2008. He has served as chair of the Board since 2012.

 Kyle Friesenhahn (Incumbent Director) 

Combining her love for music with a career in education, Ms. Friesenhahn served more than four decades as band director to high school students throughout the satellite communities served by the Seguin, Luling, La Vernia, and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School Districts. Ms. Friesenhahn is originally from Pflugerville, Texas, where she earned her high school diploma. She attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where she earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music education. She is actively involved in the Texas Music Educators’ Association, the Texas Bandmasters’ Association, the Texas Music Adjudicators’ Association, and the Phi Beta Mu Honorary Music Fraternity. Ms. Friesenhahn began in a volunteer capacity with the credit union by serving on the prestigious Nominating Committee in 2006 and was then asked to serve on the Board of Directors as an advisory director in 2007. She was subsequently elected by the membership as a full director of the Board in 2009.
