NEW COVID-19 Stimulus Package

A third stimulus package passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021, will provide relief for individuals, families, and businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19. Eligible taxpayers will receive a stimulus payment issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) via direct deposit to a bank account on record from previously filed tax returns or as a check sent by mail.

We know these emergency funds are important, and it is our priority to process the direct deposits quickly. Please note: Should the credit union receive direct deposits for closed or charged-off accounts, or in cases where the member is deceased, the funds must be returned to the IRS for appropriate handling.

  1. Must be in good standing as of March 1, 2020. Delinquent loans are not eligible. Interest will accrue on all affected loans and may cause the maturity date on each loan to be extended. Skip-A-Payments must pass an internal review to be eligible. Share account must have a minimum balance of $5.
  2. May not exceed three (3) consecutive months, counting any previous skipped loan payments since March 1, 2020.
  3. For approved Skip-A-Payment request(s) on any loan(s), pre-authorized loan payment(s) automatically paid by payroll deduction or ACH deposit arranged with an outside financial institution will be initiated as scheduled unless the member opts to cancel these automatic payments pre-arranged with an outside source. Also, if the member arranged automatic loan payment(s) within the Firstmark online banking system and wishes to cancel the payment(s), the member must initiate the cancellation of the same automatic loan payment(s) within the online banking system.
  4. Active and retired educators, active service members and veterans, and employees are exempt from the 3-month requirement.
  5. Must have active checking account and not overdrawn.

I acknowledge that this action may extend the maturity date of my loan. This request does not change the legal obligation to Firstmark Credit Union (Credit Union) or standing loan agreements. I understand the Credit Union is merely and informally allowing me to defer payment for an approved month. I understand that interest will continue to accrue on the unpaid balance of my loan during the month of the skipped payment. I also understand that the extension of the note may not be covered by credit insurance or any Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) coverage.

Skipping the loan payment(s) does not change the terms and conditions of the original GAP Waiver. Under the terms and conditions of the GAP Waiver, a skipped payment is a payment that is not made in accordance with the terms of the original loan agreement. GAP does not cover the amount of the payment(s) skipped during the life of this loan and in the event of a claim, the skipped payment(s) may be deducted from any payable GAP benefit.

I must be in good standing and all loans must be current in order to participate in this program, unless approved by management. The Credit Union may terminate this program at any time. If approved, this request amends the loan agreement(s) and my regular monthly payment schedule will resume immediately following the month in which payment has been skipped. Auto loans with Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) added are not eligible for the auto skip program.
