We understand choosing the right company is very important. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions that may help you in your decision.

  1. What is the best way to find open positions?
    Please search our careers site: www.firstmarkcu.jobs.  We encourage you to check back weekly to view new openings if you are unable to find a position you are interested in and qualified to do at this time.
  2. How do I submit a resume?
    Please create or log into your user account on our careers site.  From here you can manage your profile and your resume.  Firstmark only accepts resumes through our online database.
  3. Can I apply in person or mail my Resume and cover letter?
    Firstmark requires resumes to be submitted via our careers website.
  4. What if I am having trouble logging on to your site to apply for a job?
    If you are a returning visitor, click on the Career Center and then select "Retrieve my password."  You will be asked for the email address you used to create your account.  Enter the correct email address and you should receive an email within a few minutes.
    If you are having problems creating a new account or you are experiencing technical difficulties beyond password maintenance, please call (210) 442-0100 and ask for a member of our recruiting team.
  5. How long after I submit my Resume can I expect to hear from Firstmark Credit Union?
    You will receive an immediate response via email confirming you have successfully applied for a position.  If you are among the most competitive candidates for the position, Firstmark will contact you to schedule a phone interview.
    We work to fill positions as quickly as possible.  Once we have identified several candidates, we move on to working other positions.  If your resume comes in after this point, it is possible you you won’t be considered and you should continue to check for other openings.
  6. Can I submit my information without applying for a position?
    Yes, you are able to create a profile without applying for a position.  Choosing this option will place you in the general candidate pool, which is searched based on need.  However, most positions are filled by individuals who apply for a specific position.
    If you choose to submit your resume into the general candidate pool only, we encourage you to set up a job search agent and check back every few days for positions that you are qualified to do. 
  7. How often can I update my profile?
    You may update your profile as often as you like.  Updates appear in our system immediately.
  8. Can I withdraw an application if I change my mind?
    Yes, but there is no way for you to reverse an application in the system.  If you wish to withdraw an application during the process, please notify a member of our recruiting team.
  9. Does Firstmark Credit Union offer part-time positions?
    Yes, a large percentage of our openings are for part-time positions.  Most of these are for Tellers and Member Contact Center positions.  You may also like to know that Firstmark values our part time employees so much that we provide them with fantastic benefits, too!
  10. What is the interview process like?
    The phone interview is usually scheduled for 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the position for which you are interviewed.   Candidates are then forwarded to our hiring managers, who decide which candidates will be brought in for face to face interviews.
    It’s not uncommon for individuals to go through a phone interview and several face to face interviews before an offer is made.
  11. How can I best prepare for my interview?
    Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early.  Dress professionally.   Ensure your application is complete and accurate.  Bring extra copies of your resume.  Be prepared to discuss your experience, skills and qualifications.  Bring a list of questions that will help you decide if Firstmark is the right place for you.
  12. What is the process as a new employee to coming onboard?
    New employees first receive a new hire packet and come in to review hiring paperwork, have a badge photo made and to be fingerprinted for the FBI fingerprint search.  HR will coordinate your first day and any initial training required for your position. 
    Hiring managers also have a checklist to ensure everything a new hire needs to know is covered during the first few weeks at the credit union.  Our desire is to ensure new employees are prepared to be successful, and the first 120 days is considered an introductory period for that reason.
  13. Does the Firstmark Credit Union environment foster Teamwork?

  14. Will I have opportunities for training and development after I am hired?
    Yes, many of our positions require 1 to 2 weeks of classroom training followed by one-on-one observations with our trainers soon after.  We also provide online training resources, a Walk-a-Day program for observing other positions within the credit union, and our management staff is attuned to employees’ developmental and career progression desires.
