San Antonio, TX – March 28, 2012 – Firstmark Credit Union’s (FMCU) Chief Executive Officer Leon Ewing announced today that the credit union awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to area high school seniors.

Students applied for the scholarships or were nominated by family members or friends. FMCU requested information on the students’ high school activities, grades, and what their plans were for college once they graduate in May. More than 88 applications were received in March of this year, and ten winners were selected based on academic achievement, grade point average, character, leadership and personal recommendations.

"We are so pleased to be able to provide these students with some assistance on their college financing," said Ewing. "Getting a college education is so important, and we are thrilled to continue our commitment to excellence in education by awarding these scholarships to these incredibly deserving young men and women."
