Northeast Lakeview Names Firstmark Credit Union 2013 Donor of the Year

San Antonio, TX – Firstmark Credit Union was named Donor of the Year for 2013 during the Northeast Lakeview College Scholarship Award Ceremony. The award recognizes the Credit Union’s ongoing support in the development of the College.

Northeast Lakeview College is pleased to recognize Firstmark Credit Union as this year’s Donor of the Year,” says Dr. Eric Reno, NLC president.  “We appreciate the credit union’s continued support to college initiatives and its dedication to the futures of Northeast Lakeview College students.”

Firstmark Credit Union has been a community partner with Northeast Lakeview College since its beginnings in 2004 when they served on the Citizens Advisory Design Committee to provide input on the development of the 275 acre campus and college building design.

In 2007, the Credit Union established the first scholarship in College history, the Firstmark Credit Union Endowed Founders Scholarship. This scholarship benefits students who are pursuing majors in science, math, technology, or education.

Firstmark has also helped to fund the Lower Valley School Restoration Project. This project will transform an 1877 two-room school house into a living history museum.

“We are truly honored to be recognized as the Northeast Lakeview 2013 Donor of the Year,” said Leon Ewing, CEO Firstmark Credit Union. “The Credit Union was established by teachers in 1932. With our roots in the classroom, we honor that legacy by focusing our community efforts on programs that advance education.”
