Firstmark Credit Union Members Raise $6000 for the Children’s Hosptial of San Antonio
“Shop for Miracles” Campaign helps support Patient Care, Medical Research, and Wellness Initiatives
Miracles still happen! Firstmark Credit Union collected $6,000 during the Shop for Miracles campaign on October 15, 2015. On this one day, for each time a Firstmark member used their Firstmark credit or debit card, the Credit Union donated 25 cents to the Credit Unions for Kids program. All of the funds raised will benefit the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
“We were pleased to support Shop for Miracles campaign,” said Leon Ewing, President/CEO of Firstmark Credit Union. “This campaign turned the every-day purchases of our members into miracles for the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and the families they serve.”
The funds raised through Shop for Miracles will be put to work in the San Antonio area community to support the hospital’s greatest needs. Benefits to the children often include life-saving research, special treatments, equipment, and charitable care.
Firstmark Credit Union has been raising funds for Credit Unions for Kids since the charity’s beginning in 1986. Through the generosity of employees and members, the Credit Union has raised close to $1 million.

Credit Unions for Kids, in cooperation with local credit unions, have worked diligently with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to make hard times easier for sick children and their parents since 1996. In that time, over $140 million has been raised. The much-needed funds come from collaboration with local credit union chapters, industry leagues/associations, and their business partners to contribute to the health of children in the 156 CMN Hospitals throughout the U.S. Fundraising takes many shapes, such as golf tournaments, 5Ks, wine auctions, online giving, or the sale of paper balloon Making Miracles icons. In 2014, over 3000 credit unions raised almost $11 million for the kids. CU4Kids ranks third among CMN Hospitals corporate partners in terms of generosity. Contributions fund new facilities, groundbreaking treatments, and vital research as well as special patient needs. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals benefit more than 10 million children each year.
